Shivani Jain is a third-year medical student at LSUHSC-NO in New Orleans, LA, who has a background in global health and epidemiology, cancer genetics, and sociology. She participates in her school’s honors research program, interprofessional scholars program, and Latinx scholars program and has served as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow in her community. She is very actively involved in skin of color-focused education and advocacy efforts through a variety of programs that work with children and adolescents from BIPOC backgrounds, hair stylists in training, chronically unhoused individuals, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. When not working, she loves to write and perform spoken word poetry, sail and kayak, and support theater and comedy.
